Annette Jollah
Annette Jalloh was born and raised in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
In 2004, she moved to Canada with her father and younger brother to join her mother, who had relocated for eye surgery.
That year, Annette worked tirelessly to fulfill all the requirements to graduate from high school and enroll in university.
She initially pursued an engineering degree but realized after two years that this career path was not meant for her.
After taking a few courses at the University of Alberta, she decided to pursue a nursing degree, a choice she believes was guided by divine direction from God through her now-husband. This decision has changed her life forever.
Annette was awarded a diploma in engineering after completing two years in the engineering program at the Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2015 at the Grant MacEwan University, in Edmonton Alberta. Most of her nursing practice has focused on the geriatric population.
Currently, she works as a Registered Nurse Case Manager in the community, providing support to seniors and their families, helping them to remain in their homes for as long as it is safe to do so.
In August 2023, Annette and her husband, started a media production company calle Medanne Productions and created a platform called "Our Lives' Narratives Podcast." This platform amplifies the voices of Albertans who are positively impacting the immigrant demographic.
The "Our Lives' Narratives Podcast" was established to provide a safe space for individuals to share their stories, inspiring and motivating newcomers and residents in Canada, and even across the world. Our guests come from various backgrounds, and the lived experiences shared have the power to shape and impact lives.
The thirst for knowledge inspired the creation of this platform. Annette recalls a time when she lacked insight into some aspects of her life, and looking back, she believes that having access to such information in her early years could have helped her avoid poor decision-making and mistakes.
Annette co-produces this podcast with her wonderful husband and is a mother to two young boys. She is surrounded by a supportive community, including a younger brother who was born in Canada.
